ESTATE PLANNING & ELDER LAW

Estate Planning
We offer substantial experience in estate planning for clients of all ages. Our ultimate goals for our clients include devising strategies to insure that their interests will pass to their loved ones or intended beneficiaries in accordance with their specific wishes, with a minimum of taxes, whether it involves situations such as the succession of a family business or providing for a disabled (special needs) child.

Considering the frequent changes to the tax laws and also to the frequent changes in the lives of most people and their families, devising a well thought out estate plan is an on-going process. We can quickly and efficiently prepare Wills and Trust agreements of all types, from the most basic will to a family trust will used often when minor children are involved, and on to Marital Deduction Trust Wills, where the Federal Estate Tax is a concern.  We can further draw appropriate financial and healthcare Powers of Attorney, to reflect the most recent changes in the Pennsylvania law.   We are available to meet an ill or disabled client at his or her home, or in a hospital or nursing home if necessary.

Elder Law
We handle a variety of issues affecting elderly clients including planning ahead for a time when nursing home placement may become a necessity. We can provide guidance and counseling regarding protection of your estate for the benefit of your heirs. We offer home and hospital visits as needed and we strive to perform our services compassionately and at a reasonable cost.  We also provide planning services for special needs situations, including Special Needs Trusts

In addition, Craig Harris has represented many  individuals and families in guardianship proceedings in order that an individual may be appointed by the Court to act as guardian for an incapacitated person..  Alternatively, he is often called to represent the interests of the allegedly incapacitated person in such a guardianship hearing.
