Advising clients with respect to oil and gas leasing has recently become a growth area in Lycoming and surrounding counties. L. Craig Harris and Martin A. Flayhart have been involved in representing numerous landowners with respect to negotiations with gas companies for leasing of their properties. Future issues that will affect many property owners in central and north Lycoming and surrounding counties include rights-of-way for pipelines required to connect each new well drilled to the large gas transmission lines crossing Lycoming County. Other estate planning and business issues are anticipated to result from the “gas boom”. We can advise landowners as to the various ownership formats and strategies and the consequences of each in dealing with the potentially large amounts of royalty income expected by the holders of productive gas leases, including individuals as well as organizations.
